I just read that in 1984, the Chicago Bulls drafted two amateur superstars. With the 3rd pick in the draft they took that fellow from the University of North Carolina, Michael Jordan. But according to the Wikipedia page, they took with the 208th overall selection, Carl Lewis. Yes, that Carl Lewis. Maybe it’s common knowledge, but I wasn’t aware of the pick.

You probably did not not know this either: Though he did not play football in college, Carl Lewis was drafted as a wide receiver in the 12th round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Lewis

Strange. I guess when you’re one of the best athletes in the world and can run and jump like nobody’s business, people will think you can succeed in nearly any sport. Still, just because he can run fast or jump really far doesn’t mean he can catch, take a hit, dribble, defend, or shoot. I guess they thought it was worth the risk.

or maybe they have to pick someone and there is no one left, so they just picked whoever… you know, didn’t you get picked like that when you were in elementary school sports? I usually got picked because they just needed to fill a team… but i was always the secret weapon (i think)
