Thinking of Naming a Child Frank or Thomas
Frank Thomas homered twice in game one of the American League Division Series.
| Game 1, ALDS | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | R | H | E |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oakland | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 7 | 0 |
| Minnesota | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 5 | 2 |
Winning Pitcher: Barry Zito
Losing Pitcher: Johan Santana
Protrade wrote the following in their preview before today’s game:
First thing’s first: Johan Santana is a complete stud—by some measures not only the best pitcher in baseball, but the best player as well. When he’s on, Santana is among the most dominant starters ever to take the mound, capable of making the 1927 Yankees look overmatched. He pounds the strike zone with a hard fastball and changes speeds even when behind in the count. His starts are as close to guaranteed wins as you can find. The A’s, owners of the worst offense of any team in the playoffs, will be hard-pressed to generate an attack when facing the Twins’ No. 1 hurler. (Emphasis added.)
Tee-hee.

Maybe a Dodgers-A’s world series. Yeah, let’s bring it back to California.

Dodgers in the World Series? Somebody first needs to teach them how to slide hard into home. The A’s, on the other hand, have a good shot at reaching the ALCS, but I have a feeling that Derek Jeter will yet again single-handedly eliminate them from the postseason. At least Mark “Mr. Sadness” Kotsay had an inside-the-park homer.
