Bob Dylan Just Won a Pulitzer Prize
Seriously. A Pulitzer.
A Special Citation to Bob Dylan for his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power.
It’s kind of strange considering he didn’t release new material in 2007, but way to go Bob!

Sweet to see a musician recognized for the strength of the ‘written’ word. I’m a lifelong Dillon freak, and my 15 year old son Andrew has gotten the same religion. What he loves, and what a lot of us back in the day loved, is how hard Dillon purposely makes it to actually understand what he was singing about. He often articulated and phrased the lyrics so badly you were forced to go the written version. Sort of ‘singing in parables’ method to weed out those who weren’t willing to work hard to ‘get it.’ I love it that a pop figure who went out of his way to make his meanings obscure would win a literary award :^) But I guess he’s had plenty of company among more literary heavyweights (can anyone who reads Joyce for the first time really say they have the slightest idea what he’s writing about!)

‘Dillon’ instead of ‘Dylan’ is just the kind of brain fart that awaits folks over 50. Nobody gets to stay forever young :^).
