Meet Apollo
Yesterday Carey and I brought home our new pet and 2008 Christmas present to each other, Apollo. He’s a five-year-old lab mix adopted from the Pasadena SPCA. Before anyone asks, we named him after the Apollo Space Program and not the Greek god or Rocky Balboa’s arch rival.

Sweet dog dude. I was thinking Apollo as a reference to Battlestar Galactica, but I suppose that the space program makes much more sense.
Now I am going to have to go home and watch From the Earth to the Moon again. Awesome.

Awesome! That’s a good-looking dog. I wonder what he’s mixed with—he looks very Lab-like except for those perky ears and coloration.

One of the guard dogs on Magnum P.I. was named Apollo.

Awwww. He’s cute.

@Ben: I hadn’t thought of Battlestar, but seeing as I only made it half way through the first season, it’s not surprising. Also, I just watched the “Spider” episode of From the Earth to the Moon yesterday and man, did that bring back great memories of Pinon.
@Chase and Genevieve: Yes, we agree that Apollo is a handsome fellow.
@Timbo: How in the world do you know that?

I grew up watching Magnum P.I., and “the lads” (Zeus and Apollo) were often part of the show.

I think I’m going to love my new grand-puppy! He looks very sweet (when he’s asleep). Can hardly way for the girls (Leia and Lucy) to meet him.
